The delivery of goods from China to the Orsha Aircraft Repair Plant will begin in October /updated/

September 29, Minsk / Olga Belyavskaya - BELTA /. Trial cargo deliveries from China by air to the territory of the Orsha Aircraft Repair Plant, where a modern multimodal transport and logistics center will be created, are planned to begin in October. This was announced to journalists by Pavel Bozhanov, Head of the Department of Strategic Development, Coordination and Investment of Transport Systems of the Ministry of Transport and Communications, in response to a question from a BELTA correspondent. According to the representative of the Ministry of Transport, before the construction of the transport and logistics center begins, the possibility of organizing trial flights of cargo aircraft from China to the territory of the Orsha Aircraft Repair Plant is being worked out. Such trial flights are planned to be organized in October. At the same time, Pavel Bozhanov noted that there is a cargo reception terminal on the territory of the plant, but it does not yet meet the requirements of a transport and logistics center. "For now, it's a regular warehouse, but everything is moving towards starting trial deliveries," he said, adding that this issue has been agreed with customs and border guards. "If the flights are successful, the project will be actively implemented," the head of the department emphasized. Pavel Bozhanov announced that Belarus continues negotiations with a major Hong Kong company on its participation in the project for the construction of a transport and logistics center near Orsha. An enterprise has been created for the implementation of the project, the representative office of which has been opened in Belarus. The Ministry of Transport has submitted a proposal to the government to grant this company the status of an investment agent. These documents are currently under review. The Ministry of Transport expects that the company will receive this status, after which the active phase of work will begin. As reported, the territory for the creation of the new center has already been determined. The project plans to build a modern warehouse terminal, as well as office buildings that will house customs services, a bank, and a leasing company. The project envisages the construction of a hotel and a cafe for aircraft crews and road carriers. In the future, a leisure center may also appear in the logistics center area. The project will require $13 million in investment. It will pay off in about 9 years. The payback period depends on cargo traffic: the higher it is, the shorter the payback period. In a favorable scenario, cargo traffic will double, and the payback period will be reduced to three years. The new transport and logistics center will be located at the intersection of the 2nd and 9th international transport corridors. The Orsha Aircraft Repair Plant has an airfield capable of handling aircraft of almost all types, and railway tracks are also located nearby. In the future, the new logistics center will be able to handle cargo traffic from Warsaw, Tallinn, and other directions. -0-
