Descendants of the Korsakov family will take part in the celebration of the 600th anniversary of Glubokoye
Descendants of the Korsak family will take part in the celebration of the 600th anniversary of Glubokoye, which will be held on July 4-5, the Glubokoye District Executive Committee informed a BELTA correspondent.
A large number of guests will gather for the festivities, including descendants of the sponsor of the construction of the Holy Trinity Church and the Carmelite Church, Józef Korsak (1570-1643) from Warsaw (Poland). The arrival of 11 people, representatives of three generations of the family, is expected. "Attempts were made to find Józef Korsak's descendants back in 2012, when the Square of Famous Countrymen was opened during the celebration of the Day of Writing, where a bust of the patron was also installed. It was not possible to do so then," the district executive committee noted, adding that guests from Warsaw will bring a copy of a painting depicting their famous ancestor as a gift to the city.
Glubokoye has thoroughly prepared for its anniversary. Thus, on July 4, a bust of Yury Alexandrovich Sobolevsky will be unveiled, and presentations of the books "Hlybochchyny dukhounasci hlybini" and "Hlybochchyna - iljustrany letapis krayu", prepared by the BELTA publishing house, will be held. Organizers invite residents and guests of the city to take part in competition and show programs, sports and creative competitions, and attend concerts and discos.
On July 5, in honor of the 600th anniversary, a prayer service and a festive mass will be held simultaneously in the main churches of the city, and a postal stamp cancellation with a special postmark is planned. Theatrical procession "Hlybokaye. Starazhytnae i maladoe", the awarding ceremony of the laureates of the title "Honorary Citizen of Glubokoye District", screening of films about Glubokoye, flash mob "Yano mayoe - Hlybokaye" and fireworks are promised to be bright highlights of the day.
Józef L'vovich Korsak came from the Glubokoye branch of the Korsak family and was the owner of Glubokoye, Lastovichi, Svila, and Berezvechye in the Polotsk Voivodeship.
