Dear veterans of the Great Patriotic War!

Dear residents of the region!

I sincerely congratulate you on Victory Day!
On this holiday, we feel with particular strength our love for the Motherland and the desire to live in an independent country. The main lessons of the Great Victory are the lessons of cohesion and unity of peoples in the struggle for freedom and a dignified life.

The greatness of the immortal feat of the generation of Victors who defeated fascism will never fade. In fierce battles at the fronts, in partisan detachments and underground, in the fields and at the factories, our people gave their strength for the great goal – to endure and win. The heroism and self-sacrifice of Soviet citizens are the brightest example of patriotism in world history.

The Belarusian people, more than anyone else, know the price of peace. We keep in our hearts the bitterness of losses during the war years. Vitebsk region lost every third resident during the war, 222 settlements were burned down on its territory, and thousands of people languished in camps and ghettos. Pain, tears, and irreparable losses brought suffering to every family. And we strive to make the familiar childhood words a reality: NO ONE IS FORGOTTEN AND NOTHING IS FORGOTTEN.

Today, 3,653 veterans of the Great Patriotic War, 349 family members of those killed, and 7,245 former prisoners of Nazi concentration camps and other places of detention live in the Vitebsk region. Veterans are an example of honor and courage; you teach us love for the Motherland, optimism, and conscientiousness.
This year, the Gorodok and Liozno districts celebrate the 70th anniversary of their liberation from the Nazi invaders. It is important that the watch of memory is picked up by new generations. We must work together to improve our region, make it beautiful and safe. We must be worthy of those who gave their lives for the Fatherland.

Deep bows to all who brought Victory closer!
May our hearts grow stronger in good endeavors for the benefit of our native country!
I sincerely wish you, dear compatriots, health, happiness, vigor, peace, and kindness!
Happy Victory Day!

Sincerely,
Alexander Ksinets,
Chairman
of the Vitebsk Regional
Executive Committee
