Congratulation from the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee A.N. Kosinets
Dear residents of the region!
Dear veterans!
I sincerely congratulate you on the Independence Day of the Republic of Belarus and the 70th anniversary of the country's liberation from the Nazi invaders!
The main holiday of Belarusian statehood is inextricably linked with the most important event in the history of the Fatherland - liberation from fascism, it is a symbol of national pride, the embodiment of the unity and cohesion of the people in the struggle for freedom and independence. By tradition, on this significant Day, we pay deep respect to the valor, heroism, and selflessness of the defenders of the Fatherland, and honor the memory of those who died for the Motherland.
Belarusian statehood has its roots in the history of the Principality of Polotsk, where a prototype of the Belarusian nation emerged a millennium ago. Our path to self-determination was long and difficult. The socio-political transformations that took place in the 20th century allowed Belarusians to form state institutions, create a developed economy, and open broad access to knowledge and cultural achievements.
The years of peaceful creative construction were interrupted by the attack of fascist troops - Belarus was the first to bear the treacherous blow of the aggressor. The heroic resistance to the enemy, which began at the walls of the Brest Fortress, grew into a nationwide struggle against the Hitlerite invaders and continued until their complete expulsion from the territory of our Motherland and the liberation of Europe from fascism.
Our independence is based on the merits of the generation of Victors, those who, sacrificing the most precious thing – their lives, won freedom for their descendants. The feat of the Soviet people, who defended independence in the battle with the Hitlerite invaders, and revived the country, its destroyed cities and villages, will forever remain in memory.
We have come a difficult path of state-building, overcoming difficulties and hardships, and have taken a worthy place in the international community. Today, together we are building a sovereign state, strengthening the socio-economic and defense potential of Belarus through selfless labor.
Dear veterans, thank you for your military and peaceful labor, please accept our wishes for long life, well-being, and confidence in the future!
I wish you, dear residents of the Vitebsk region, health, happiness, peace, and goodness.
Sincerely, Alexander Kosinets,
Chairman
Vitebsk Regional
