The land of Miory has given the world many glorious names. Public figure and sculptor Henryk Dmochowski, People's Artist of the USSR Gennady Titovich, and Hero of the Soviet Union Vice-Admiral Yegor Tomko were born here.
During the Great Patriotic War, your fellow countrymen bravely fought for the freedom and independence of the Motherland. 2230 residents of the district died or went missing, and over 4,000 were shot by the German-fascist invaders. Mikhail Alexandrovich Kuzmin became a Hero of the Soviet Union for the liberation of the city of Disna, and Viktor Alekseevich Babichev for his courage in battle near the village of Tychki.
The region is celebrating its anniversary year with important investment projects. The construction of a plant for the production of sheet metal and tinplate opens up great prospects. The project for obtaining marketable eel at the "Aktam-fish" enterprise is unique in the republic.
More than a dozen types of compound feed for cattle and poultry are supplied by OJSC "Miory Feed Mill". OJSC "Miory Meat Processing Plant" has a new cold storage facility ready for commissioning, with a capacity to store 500 tons of products simultaneously. Reconstruction and technical re-equipment of dairy farms have been carried out.
A hallmark of the district is one of the unique objects of Belarus's protected areas – the republican landscape reserve ”Yelnya“. The festival ”Cranes and Cranberries of the Miory Region“ has gained wide recognition. Relying on the accumulated production and human potential, the Miory district is improving production technologies, putting the land in order, developing the social sphere and tourist infrastructure.The wisdom, labor, and talent of the residents allow us to move forward steadily.
