Firefighters evacuated twenty people from a residential building in Dokshitsy

Twenty people were evacuated from a residential building in Dokshitsy due to heavy smoke last night, Marina Fando, press secretary of the Vitebsk Regional Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, told a BELTA correspondent. At 1 a.m., the operational control center of the Dokshitsy District Department for Emergency Situations received a report of a fire in an 18-apartment residential building in the district center. Bedding was burning in one of the apartments. Firefighters evacuated 20 residents of the building and rescued a 24-year-old woman who was in the unfortunate apartment. She was taken to the district hospital by an ambulance with a diagnosis of mild poisoning from combustion products while intoxicated. After medical examination, the victim was discharged home. According to neighbors, the woman was consuming alcohol. The suspected cause of the fire is carelessness while smoking while intoxicated. As a result of the fire, bedding was damaged in the room, the floor burned through over an area of 0.5 sq.m, and the walls were smoked. Over the past three days, 10 fires have occurred in the region, resulting in two deaths. Ministry of Emergency Situations personnel rescued two people, evacuated 20 people, and one person was rescued by the public. Four structures and one unit of equipment were damaged in the fires, and the destruction of three structures was prevented. -0-
