Two citizens of Georgia were denied entry into Belarus for attempting to illegally cross the state border
August 8, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA/. Two citizens of Georgia have been denied entry to Belarus for attempting to illegally cross the Belarusian-Latvian border. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by Denis Glebko, head of the press service of the Polotsk Border Guard Detachment.
As a result of joint actions by Belarusian and Latvian border guards, two citizens of Georgia were detained – a man born in 1974 and a woman born in 1989. In the Braslav district, both offenders attempted to illegally cross the border and, according to Denis Glebko, to obtain political asylum in Europe.
As the head of the border guard detachment's press service noted, this is not the first case of Georgian citizens being detained in the Braslav district while attempting to illegally cross the state border; however, close cooperation between the border agencies of Belarus and Latvia contributes to the prevention of illegal actions.
After the investigation of this fact, the citizens of Georgia were deported to their homeland. They are banned from entering Belarus for three years.-0-
