A festive rally in honor of Defender of the Fatherland Day was held in Vitebsk
Today, wreaths and flowers were laid at the monument on Victory Square by the leaders of the region and Vitebsk, representatives of labor collectives, educational institutions, and public organizations.
This holiday is important for every citizen and patriot of Belarus. Our fathers and grandfathers valiantly defended the Motherland during the Great Patriotic War. We are proud of the names of our local heroes Pyotr Masherov, Minay Shmyryov, Lev Dovator, Alexander Gorovets, Alexei Danukalov, Konstantin Zaslonov.
The title of Hero of the Soviet Union was awarded to 127 soldiers and partisans born in the Vitebsk region. Our soldiers and officers demonstrated high moral qualities, valor, and courage in hot spots around the planet in the post-war period. Modern Republic of Belarus is a peaceful country.
Loyal to the traditions of the older generations, the soldiers of the Armed Forces reliably guard the state borders. If necessary, the territorial defense of the Vitebsk region will successfully complete the assigned combat missions.
To the sounds of the State Anthem of the Republic of Belarus, a three-volley salute was fired in honor of the fallen heroes.
