The circus art festival «Arena-2019» brought together more than 20 ensembles from Belarus and Russia in Orsha

Праздник циркового искусства «Арена-2019» собрал в Орше более 20 коллективов из Беларуси и России
The circus is a whole life filled with emotions, experiences, triumphs, smiles, and tears. Orsha residents lived it alongside the participants of the republican circus art festival "Arena-2019". While last year the event had the status of a regional open competition, this year the forum made a bid for international status – 24 teams from Belarus and Russia took part in it.

Orsha residents and guests of the city witnessed an unforgettable show with performances by acrobats, aerial gymnasts, equilibrists, original genre artists, and trained animals.

– A comprehensive system for holding events in the field of circus art has been established in the country, taking into account all genre directions. And it covers all regions of the country, – noted Ivan Galaburda, consultant of the department of cultural institutions and folk art of the Ministry of Culture of Belarus, in a conversation with journalists.

Yakov Lobovich, chairman of the jury and Honored Worker of Culture of the Republic of Belarus, said that the city on the Dnieper was not chosen as the venue for the festival by chance.

– Only in Orsha is such a number of circus troupes concentrated, – he noted. – There are traditions here that can be learned from. It is very important that great attention is paid to circus art in our country, especially to working with children. We give them the opportunity to develop and improve.

Members of the jury and organizers emphasized the interest of local authorities in holding such events.

– Like the upcoming New Year holidays, the circus is magic, – said Viktor Kolochev, Deputy Chairman of the Orsha District Executive Committee. – May it symbolize happiness and good for all of us.

Circus performers performed in two age groups: under 15 years old, and 16 years old and older. In each of the nominations, laureates of I – III degrees were determined. Symbolically, the prizes were made of clay – a material as plastic and lively as the circus itself.
