Enterprises of the Chashniki district will provide material assistance to their labor veterans for the Day of the Elderly, the Committee for Labor, Employment and Social Protection of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee informed the BELTA correspondent. One-time cash rewards ranging from one to four base amounts will be paid by 15 enterprises and organizations of the district (one base amount is Br35 thousand). Festive congratulations await many other elderly residents of the Chashniki district. A number of enterprises will hold recreation evenings with concert programs for them, and will provide assistance in providing agricultural products. Chairmen of rural councils will organize mobile meetings in villages, and thematic recreation evenings, gatherings and literary meetings will be held in rural libraries. In addition, for their elderly readers, on October 1, the use of books from the commercial subscription will be free. Members of youth organizations are already preparing for numerous congratulations. A series of festive events has also started in other regions of the region. For example, labor veterans of the regional center are invited today to a solemn meeting at the "Vitebsk" cultural and business center, and on October 1 - to a reception in their honor at the city executive committee. On the holiday, an all-day living department for lonely elderly people will be opened in the urban-type settlement of Lyntupy, Postavy district, and in Polotsk, BRSM activists will hold the "We will help with what we can!" campaign. Many institutions have prepared their small gifts for the older generation on this day. Thus, labor veterans will be able to visit the Vitebsk Regional Museum of Local Lore for free and receive discounts at hairdressers, shoe repair shops, and for other household services. There are 339.9 thousand pensioners registered with the labor, employment and social protection authorities of the Vitebsk region. The average pension size as of September 1 was Br392 thousand. Various types of social, domestic and psychological assistance are provided to the elderly through 27 territorial social service centers, which include 11 structural units, including 14 all-day care departments with 447 beds.
