Consumer cooperative enterprises of the Vitebsk region procured blueberries and bilberries 10 times more than last year
Consumer cooperation enterprises of the Vitebsk region have set a peculiar record this season – they procured 10 (!) times more blueberries and bilberries than last year.
Viktor Shulyak, First Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Vitebsk Regional Union of Consumer Societies, commented on the news as follows:
— The procurement campaign is proceeding at a pace that, frankly, we did not expect. Enterprises in the region purchased over 345 tons of blueberries and bilberries from residents – this is almost 10 times more than last year. In addition to wild berries, garden berries were also actively accepted – red and black currants (80 tons and 100 tons respectively), cherries (65 tons). There is growth in absolutely all positions. Even garden strawberries – there were 4 times more of them this year. Villagers are actively selling cucumbers – over 800 tons, early vegetables and apples are now coming in, of which about 19 thousand tons are planned to be procured this season.
The growth rate of procurements for 7 months of 2015 is already 140 percent. People received about 100 billion rubles in cash for them.
