Vitebsk region enterprises received more than Br1 billion in compensation for the collection of secondary resources in 2012
Enterprises of the Vitebsk region received more than Br1 billion in compensation for the collection of secondary resources in 2012, the head of the housing and communal services department of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Yuri Dyadelo, told a BELTA correspondent.
In accordance with Decree No. 313 "On Certain Issues of Waste Management," a system of compensation payments for each kilogram of recycled raw materials submitted has been introduced in Belarus since 2012. All legal entities and individual entrepreneurs, regardless of ownership and departmental affiliation, can receive certain funds from the operator - a state non-profit specialized organization for the management of secondary material resources, established under the Ministry of Housing and Communal Services, for each ton of secondary material resources collected from the population and sent for processing to enterprises of the country, explained Yuri Dyadelo.
In the Vitebsk region, 35 organizations became recipients of compensation last year, to whom a total of more than Br1 billion was paid. In addition, from the operator's funds, the communal enterprise "Vitebsk Spetsavtobaza" will receive Br1.2 billion this year to create a secondary waste sorting station. To date, there are no large sorting stations in the region, so the operator's funds are directed towards strengthening the material base for processing and sorting secondary raw materials.
According to the State Control Committee of the Vitebsk region, 18 out of 28 housing and communal services enterprises in the Vitebsk region are not fulfilling the target for the collection of secondary resources. Their performance ranged from 25% to 92%.
