The Chairman of the ABFF positively assesses the performance of Belarusian clubs in the Europa League playoffs

August 20, Vitebsk / Sergey Kochetov - BELTA /. Gennady Nevglas, Chairman of the Belarusian Football Federation, positively assesses the performance of Belarusian clubs in the first matches of the Europa League playoffs, which took place on August 19. He shared his impressions of the teams' games with journalists during the international beach soccer tournament, which opened today in Vitebsk, BELTA correspondent reports. According to Gennady Nevglas, already during the first half in Borisov, where BATE hosted the Portuguese club Maritimo, there were no doubts about a positive result for the Belarusian team. The opponents of the Borisov team did not surprise with anything special, and the champion of Belarus brilliantly completed its task, scoring three unanswered goals. Although the head of the federation did not manage to watch the first half of the match between Brugge (Belgium) and Dinamo (Minsk), he is confident that the capital club has chances to reach the group stage of the Europa League. As for the crushing defeat of Dnepr Mogilev from the seasoned Spanish Villarreal with a score of 0:5, the head of the ABFF considers the very fact of Mogilev's reaching the Europa League playoffs a great achievement for the team. "I am sure that Dnepr will perform with dignity at home in the return match, for which, by the way, all tickets have already been sold out," Gennady Nevglas added. In his opinion, the performance of Belarusian footballers in the international arena can be assessed as a great success for domestic football. "A modern infrastructure for the development of this sport has begun to be created in Belarus, and for the last few years our children and athletes have been playing on professional grounds, and this is yielding results," believes Gennady Nevglas. In the country, 76 mini-football fields with artificial turf have been opened recently, and there will be 78 in total. Such grounds are being built under the UEFA program, and in Belarus, in addition to funds from the European Football Federation, the ABFF and local authorities have taken on the financing of construction. This is a good result for Belarus, where a course is purposefully pursued for the health of the nation and the comprehensive development of physical culture and sports, the head of the federation added. -0-
