Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee Alexander Subbotin congratulated Vitebsk customs officers on their anniversary

Председатель облисполкома Александр Субботин поздравил витебских таможенников с юбилейной датой
On March 22, the Vitebsk Customs celebrated its 30th anniversary. This week, a series of events dedicated to this significant date took place in the region: a ceremony of taking the oath by young customs officers in Polotsk, and the opening of the renamed public transport stop "Vitebsk Customs" on Lazo Street in Vitebsk. The President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, addressed his congratulations to the jubilee participants.

The series of anniversary events concluded with a formal meeting and concert at the regional philharmonic hall. Among the invited guests were the Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee Alexander Subbotin and the Chairman of the State Customs Committee Vladimir Orlovsky, as well as representatives of local authorities and the security sector of the Vitebsk region.

— 30 years may seem like a short period in historical terms. However, during this time, the Vitebsk Customs has proven itself to be a reliable shield for the economic security of the region and the country as a whole. The clarity and professionalism of your actions, their efficiency, allow you to counteract any cross-border illegal activities, giving special meaning to the motto inscribed on the banner of the customs service of Belarus: "For us, the Motherland." The highest demands are placed upon you. Only honest people, who conscientiously perform their official duties and possess a sense of responsibility, can work here," said Alexander Subbotin. — The ability of Belarus to preserve its cultural and historical values for future generations, effectively protect the interests of domestic producers, and prevent the illegal trafficking of drugs and weapons largely depends on your activities. At the same time, customs officers do everything necessary to ensure that the state border does not become an obstacle to international business cooperation and improves the investment climate of the Vitebsk region.

— The Vitebsk customs is unique in many ways among its colleagues: it was formed from six customs offices that previously existed in the region, and its area of operation borders three neighboring states. Today, you have the most modern technologies and highly qualified personnel at your disposal. Your team has everything necessary to solve the most important state tasks assigned to it for supporting Belarusian exports, ensuring transit, and fostering a favorable business climate, — said Vladimir Orlovsky. — The potential accumulated over the years of operation allows you to excellently perform your functions even under increasing external pressure and attempts to destabilize the situation within the republic.

The guests thanked the customs officers and service veterans for their conscientious and effective work for the benefit of the country, and presented state awards, certificates, and letters of gratitude to the best among them.
