Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee Nikolai Sherstnev introduced the new head of the executive power of Novopolotsk. Dmitry Demidov was approved for this position at the 12th extraordinary session of the City Council of Deputies.
Dmitry Vladimirovich was born in 1975 in Polotsk. In 1996, he graduated from Polotsk State University with a degree in "Economics and Production Management". He worked in the Department of Financial Investigations of the State Control Committee, the Vitebsk Department of the KGB, and then headed the Novopolotsk Housing and Communal Services Department for four years. In February 2014, he became the first deputy head of the Novopolotsk City Executive Committee, and after Natalya Kochanova was appointed Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus, he performed the duties of the head of the city.
The head of the main department of organizational and personnel work of the Regional Executive Committee, Vladimir Severin, characterized Dmitry Demidov as a competent, proactive leader, a skilled organizer capable of heading the executive power and ensuring the dynamic development of the city with the aim of improving the standard of living of citizens.
— It is a great honor and responsibility for me to be nominated for the post of chairman of the city executive committee,— said Dmitry Vladimirovich, promising to do everything possible to justify the trust of the country's leadership, the regional executive committee, and the residents of Novopolotsk.
Dmitry Demidov called caring for people the cornerstone of local government activities. He emphasized that in the future it is necessary to modernize enterprises, reduce the share of petrochemicals in the city's economy by creating new industries, continue the development of modern social infrastructure, housing construction, and strengthen the material base of educational, healthcare, cultural, and sports institutions. Planned events dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory and the Year of Youth should be held at a decent level.
— The tasks outlined are within our capabilities because we have a powerful industrial base, trained personnel, and a professional management team, — emphasized Dmitry Demidov.
Deputies unanimously voted for his appointment to the position. Nikolai Sherstnev congratulated the new head of the city and presented him with a certificate. Nikolai Nikolaevich expressed confidence that Dmitry Demidov will unite a team of like-minded people, and under his leadership, the residents of Novopolotsk will preserve and multiply all the best that has been created by their predecessors. After all, Novopolotsk, despite its youth, is strong with its solid traditions and continuity of generations.
— We are working primarily for the social sphere, its development, and the well-being of our people. We will consult, determine a common strategy, and work as a team. If we have understanding, we will have results. I wish you productive work and have no doubt about your success, — said the Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee.
