CEC Chairman Igor Karpenko commended the organizers of the campaign for holding the republican referendum in the Vitebsk region

Among them are representatives of commissions of various levels for voting in the referendum held on February 27, as well as its organizers from among the employees of local authorities.

As Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee Alexander Subbotin noted before the award ceremony, thanks to the coordinated and professional work of all participants in the process, every resident of the region was able to exercise their right to participate in the vote and dispose of their vote. A colossal amount of work was done in a short period of time. More than 81 percent of the citizens included in the voting lists took part in the plebiscite, and over 70 percent voted in favor of the proposed amendments. Hundreds of meetings were held in work collectives to discuss the draft of the updated Constitution. With the help of more than 5.5 thousand observers, everything was done to ensure the transparency of the voting, to confirm its legitimacy and, subsequently, the legitimacy of all our work.

More than 9 thousand people worked in precinct commissions, and more than 300 in territorial commissions. They ensured the legality of all electoral procedures. Law enforcement officers, doctors, and rescuers worked alongside them to ensure the safety of the referendum. Employees of district and city executive committees, administrations of the city of Vitebsk, and representatives of public organizations played a crucial role in organizing the process.

-- All the work done is worthy of respect, as it was aimed at the well-being of our entire society, at the future of our wonderful country, -- the head of the region summed up.

Igor Karpenko added that extensive preparatory work with the population had been carried out for more than a year. This led to a high turnout and created a platform for citizens to embrace the changes and additions to the Basic Law and support them. In the near future, it will be necessary to amend the country's legislative acts and adopt new ones to bring everything into compliance with the amended Constitution.

Among those awarded were Elena Sharay, Deputy Head of the Administration of the Zheleznodorozhny District of Vitebsk, Vyacheslav Khrol, Deputy Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Commission for the Referendum, and many others.
