Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Nikolai Shersnev voted in the elections of deputies of local Councils of deputies of the 28th convocation
Elections of deputies of local Councils of Deputies of the 28th convocation are proceeding calmly and in an organized manner in Vitebsk. Among the first to arrive at the polling station was the Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, Nikolai Sherstnev.
Polling station No. 23, located in the House of Culture of the Vitebsk State Academy of Veterinary Medicine, began receiving voters at exactly 8 a.m., like all other polling stations. Candidates for the Regional Council of Deputies in the Sadovy Electoral District No. 47 and for the City Council of Deputies in the Bauman Electoral District No. 5 are running here.
Before the opening, the chairman of the precinct election commission of polling station No. 23, Vladimir Baran, in the presence of commission members and observers, demonstrated empty ballot boxes at the polling station and for home voting, sealed them, and also showed a sealed box with early voting ballots.
Among the first voters who cast their ballots at this polling station shortly after its opening was the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Nikolai Sherstnev. After dropping the ballots into the box, Nikolai Nikolaevich spoke with journalists. The head of the region spoke about what, in his opinion, people's representatives should be like, about the important role of local Councils of Deputies, and about the attention that needs to be paid to one's small homeland.
– Deputies of local Councils are our people from the people who have distinguished themselves by their activity, selflessness, who want people to live better and our territories to become more well-kept. We elect deputies from our surroundings – those who have already proven themselves, – emphasized Nikolai Sherstnev.
Deputies are precisely those authorized representatives of voters who are called upon to work for the people together with the executive authorities, noted the head of the region. Deputies should come to power, set a task, and solve it together. But deputies themselves must also initiate the resolution of issues. Voters know such people, and there is no doubt, as Nikolai Sherstnev emphasized, that our people will choose the best of the best.
