Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Nikolai Sherstnev took part in honoring the region's first thousand-ton combine harvester crew

The crew of SPF "Zaozerye" (a branch of JSC "Vitebsky Meat Packing Plant") was the first in the region to thresh more than 1 thousand tons of grain in the Lepel district. The crew includes combine operators Leonid Paramonov and Dmitry Skripelyov. Today, the front-rank workers were presented with diplomas, cash bonuses, and gifts right in the field. Talking to journalists after the ceremony, Nikolai Sherstnev noted that a special atmosphere has developed at this year's harvest. "There was a powerful message from the President at the selector meeting, and a unity of all those involved in the harvest and those not directly involved in this work occurred," said the governor. "City dwellers have always provided assistance to farmers during the harvest, but there were always problems - enterprise managers were reluctant to send their employees to the countryside. After the meeting, no complaints were made. There are no organizational problems."

Nikolai Sherstnev reported that about 800 city dwellers are currently working on harvesting in the Vitebsk region. "They work conscientiously and responsibly," stated the head of the region. By the way, the heroes of the day – the first thousand-tonners in the region – are also city dwellers, seconded for the harvest period to the Lepel district from the Vitebsk Meat Packing Plant.

The governor noted that the region has reached maximum harvesting rates, and the yield of harvested fields is also growing. "Today we harvested a field of hybrid rye – the expected yield is 96.4 centners per hectare. This indicates that rich grain harvests can also be obtained in the Vitebsk region. To achieve this, everything must be done in a timely, high-quality, and technological manner," said the head of the region.

As of the morning of August 11, 24.7% of grain and leguminous crops have been harvested in the Vitebsk region. More than 263 thousand tons have been threshed with a yield of 31.7 centners per hectare. The highest yield is demonstrated by the farmers of the Orsha district - they thresh 43 centners per hectare. Significant threshing results are also shown by farmers in the Dubrovno (39 centners/ha), Verkhnedvinsk (37.1 centners/ha), and Vitebsk (35 centners/ha) districts. In terms of harvesting pace, the farmers of Beshenkovichi and Chashniki districts are leading, with approximately 37% of fields threshed. Good paces are also observed among the agricultural workers of the Glubokoe and Lepel districts.
