Election campaigning in Vitebsk can be conducted on more than 20 sites

Assembly halls of educational institutions and public spaces in residential areas have been chosen by local authorities for meetings and mass events with the participation of presidential candidates and their proxies in the major cities of the Vitebsk region, a BELTA correspondent reports. In accordance with the Electoral Code of Belarus, the Vitebsk City Executive Committee has designated more than 20 public spaces for holding mass events (outdoor gatherings, rallies, picketing) on a notification basis, organized by presidential candidates and their proxies for election campaigning. Along with campaign sites in residential areas, Lenin Square, one of the central city squares, has also been included in this list. Meetings of presidential candidates and their proxies with voters, as well as election campaign meetings organized by voters, will be held in the assembly halls of educational institutions – closer to the voters' place of residence. The City Executive Committee has obliged the heads of organizations to ensure access to these premises for presidential candidates and their proxies for meetings with voters and election campaign meetings organized by voters, in compliance with the necessary sanitary and fire safety regulations. The Novopolotsk City Executive Committee has designated 6 public spaces for holding mass events on a notification basis, organized by candidates and voters, and another 8 premises for meetings. In Orsha, street campaigning events can be held in 13 public spaces and 11 premises, while in Polotsk, campaigning events can be held in 8 premises and in all public spaces in densely populated residential areas. In addition, the Polotsk City Executive Committee, according to the Executive Director of the City Executive Committee, Lyodiy Lysyonok, has made the list of premises for meetings open: if desired, presidential candidates and their proxies can hold meetings at enterprises and organizations, for which it is sufficient to contact the management of the enterprises. Having agreed to such a meeting with one candidate, the manager has no right to refuse a similar request from another contender, Lyodiy Lysyonok emphasized. -0-
