Belarusian Prime Minister Sergei Rumas has instructed to work out options for financing the major overhaul of the bridge in Polotsk
The Prime Minister noted that the bridge repair is a pressing issue for the local authorities. "Closing the bridge causes inconvenience to the city's population and organizations. The task now is to complete its repair next year. Br3 million has been allocated from the regional budget for construction work in 2020. The preliminary cost was estimated at about Br12 million, but studies have shown the need to adjust the design and estimate documentation," said Sergey Rumas.
According to specialists, the concrete and metal structures of the bridge are subject to complete replacement, which entails an increase in construction costs. According to preliminary calculations, they will increase to Br24 million. "Most likely, without the help of the republican budget, the Vitebsk region and Polotsk will not be able to put the bridge into operation," the prime minister added.
Sergey Rumas instructed the chairmen of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee and the Polotsk District Executive Committee to adjust the design and estimate documentation, work out options for financing the work, and submit proposals to the government.
The bridge on Yubileynaya Street across the Western Dvina River in Polotsk was closed for capital repairs on October 8.
