Vitebsk residents will evaluate the premiere performance of the new artistic director of the Y. Kolas Theatre today
January 10, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. The premiere of the play "The Wise Men..." will take place today at the Yanka Kupala National Academic Drama Theater in Vitebsk. This is the first production by laureate of international theater festivals Rida Talipov as the artistic director of the Kupala Theater, Svetlana Dashkevich, head of the theater's literary department, told a BELTA correspondent.
The plot of the play is well-known, as Alexander Ostrovsky's work "Enough Wisdom for Every Fool" is studied in schools. In Rida Talipov's interpretation, it turned out to be in the genre of satirical realism. At the same time, to a certain extent, the play can be called a creative experiment, as the new artistic director involved Kupala actors with whom he had never worked before. For example, the role of the main character Glumov is played by young actor Yuri Gapeev. Krutitsky is played by the oldest actor of the Vitebsk theater, Tadeusz Kokhtys. In other roles are Olga Kuleshova (Mamaeva), Alexander Frolov (Mamaev), Raisa Gribovich (Glumova), Alexander Bazuk (Gorodulin), Nina Obukhova (Mashenka), and others.
Rida Talipov began collaborating with the Kupala Theater in 2002 and staged the plays "Ekaterina Ivanovna" by Leonid Andreyev and "Vassa" by Maxim Gorky with People's Artist of Belarus Svetlana Okruzhna in the leading roles on its stage. -0-
