The Kolas Theater in Vitebsk concludes October with the premiere of "The Legend of Love"
October 31, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. The Kolas Theater in Vitebsk concludes October with the premiere of the play "Legend of Love," Svetlana Dashkevich, head of the literary department of the Yakub Kolas National Academic Drama Theater, told a BELTA correspondent.
"Legend of Love" is staged by theater director Yuri Lizengevich based on Lesya Ukrainka's fairy-tale drama "The Forest Song." Minsk scenographer Valentina Pravdina has created an unreal world in the production where the forest nymph Mavka (Victoria Grieva) meets the village boy Lukash (Maxim Korzhitsky). In the play, the Kolas Theater actors engage in a dialogue with the audience from the perspective of a modern person seeking answers to questions such as how young people raised in different environments can find mutual understanding, and whether true feelings can overcome traditional norms.
Another event awaits Melpomene's fans on November 3. On this day, the Kolas Theater invites everyone to the theater lounge to celebrate the 130th birthday of Yakub Kolas, whose name the theater has borne since 1944, with an evening titled "From Cossack Evenings, From Bagpiper Songs." "Let's celebrate together!" - reads the invitation. "According to the production director Mikhail Krasnobayev, the most important things that the national poet of Belarus Yakub Kolas told his reader are in the poem 'Symon the Musician,' which is why this work formed the basis of the first part of the evening," noted Svetlana Dashkevich.
The roles of the Kolas Theater characters will be played by the theater's actors. Mikhail Krasnobayev, who debuted on the Kolas stage in the title role of the play "Symon the Musician" in 1985, will perform on behalf of the author and Symon.
In the second part of the evening, bagpiper Vasily Shkinder and the student ethnographic society "Midnight" invite all guests to have an unforgettable experience by participating in a folk dance master class. -0-
