So, another page – the History… of the Vitebsk… District Police…

This "page" was written by Inna ABRAMOVA, a well-known researcher, historian, and local lore expert in the city, a frequent participant in creative meetings at "DUKHOVSKOY KRUGLIK". This year, she prepared and published a monograph of the same name, in which the author detailed the stages of the origin and formation of law enforcement services in our city.

Any aspect of diverse historical subjects, when it falls within the scope of this researcher-archivist, becomes enriched with curious details. Forgotten facts, names, and events are brought back from oblivion and become part of the city's chronicle. This is what happened this time as well. You will learn interesting details about life in Vitebsk during one of the most challenging periods of Soviet history, get acquainted with the very specific environment of the so-called "roadside romantics" and with those people who are associated with the heroes of detective series: investigators, operational officers, and Chekists.

Among other cases that were under investigation, a special place is occupied by the investigation into the murder of the Vitebsk artist-teacher Yudel Moiseevich PEN. As is known, the mystery of this crime remained unsolved, despite the fact that the suspects in the murder were punished. What else was found in the archival cases post factum? Versions? Evidence? Sensations!

We invite you to a meeting with Vitebsk historian, local historian and researcher Inna ABRAMOVA at the exhibition hall "DUKHOVSKOY KRUGLIK". The meeting will take place on November 27, 2014 at 4:30 PM.

Information by phone 35-81-38.

research fellow of the exhibition hall "Dukhovskoy Kruglyk"
