President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko signed the decision of the republican referendum

Lukashenko: The people of Belarus have made a choice in favor of evolutionary transformations of the political system. The President announced this at the solemn ceremony of signing the decision of the republican referendum on amendments and additions to the Constitution. Addressing the participants, and through them, the entire Belarusian people, the Head of State emphasized:

– We have written a new page in the history of sovereign Belarus. On February 27, 2022, a republican referendum was held. The absolute majority of citizens supported the proposed constitutional amendments. This means that the event will go into textbooks as another milestone in the development of a sovereign country.

Alexander Lukashenko noted the symbolism of the fact that the updated Basic Law will enter into force on March 15 – Constitution Day of the Republic of Belarus. The President stated:

– The people of Belarus have made their choice. A choice in favor of evolutionary transformations of the political system. Democratically, in accordance with our Belarusian laws. The people have shown wisdom and national maturity. In the context of a tense international situation, threats to our traditional way of life, we have taken a serious step towards strengthening the country's sovereignty. We have done it, relying on our own experience of constitutional reform, protecting the original values accumulated over the centuries-old history of the Belarusian people. A people who, at critical moments, have always chosen peace, creation, and strengthening the foundations of our statehood.


The evidence of this, the Head of State pointed out, is the results of previous referendums:

– With the Constitution that we wrote and improved at the dawn of the formation of sovereign Belarus, we have achieved a lot... We have achieved a lot amidst the most complex geopolitical transformations of the world, creating a balanced and effective management vertical practically from scratch. Taking into account public demand, we have formed new structures, abolished outdated ones.institutions. The state apparatus has been optimized more than once. In the shortest possible time, we managed to establish diplomatic and trade relations. To strengthen the defense of the Fatherland, which, under unprecedented external pressure on Belarus, is a guarantee of a peaceful and safe life.

The President noted that our country has become an initiator and active participant in Eurasian economic integration, the CSTO, and other interstate formations:

– Today, we are improving our Union with Russia on equal terms, conducting dialogue with international partners. We hold a firm position on issues of sovereignty and security.

The Head of State emphasized that honest and favorable conditions for economic activity have been offered to investors and domestic businesses in Belarus. A number of parks with special preferential regimes have been created and are functioning in the republic. Entrepreneurs can be calm about honest business that is responsible to the state and the people.

Alexander Lukashenko noted the importance of traditional values for our people, which are enshrined in the updated Basic Law:

– The institution of the family as a value, as well as children, youth, the elderly and disabled, are under the special care of the state. All this is the unshakable foundation of our statehood, built by our hands. And the norms that have been effectively working so far have remained on the pages of the updated Basic Law.
