President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko visited OJSC "Naftan"

Президент Беларуси Александр Лукашенко посетил ОАО "Нафтан"

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko demands that the leadership of the Vitebsk region clearly see the strategy for regional development. The Head of State announced this today during a visit to OJSC Naftan.

"We need to solve problems, to see the strategy. There must be a certain strategy, similar to how you are trying or tried (perhaps you have already moved away from it) to build a strategy in agriculture: when you know where to build a complex for an entire district or two, where to combine something, to separate something, and as a result to get an effect not only in production, but also in the economy," said Alexander Lukashenko.

The President noted that the country has created conditions for the development of small and medium-sized businesses, and now it is necessary to think about the development of strategic industries and enterprises. "At one time, we began to modernize woodworking, and you have done a lot here," he gave an example. - If you are not working at modernized enterprises here, then this is generally bad for you, for the minister, and for the government. This is a strategic direction, but this is not your invented strategy. At one time, I forced everyone to modernize woodworking. They shouted, they wailed - today woodworking yields results for the country as a whole."

The governor of the Vitebsk region, Nikolai Sherstnev, reported to the head of state on the socio-economic development of the region. According to him, the situation in the region is stable, however, the indicators could be higher if "Naftan" were more utilized and operated more profitably. Much in the region depends precisely on this enterprise. "As soon as some issues falter at Naftan, of course, the volumes of socio-economic development as a whole seriously decline," noted Nikolai Sherstnev. At the same time, he emphasized that in recent years, the Vitebsk region has been trying to move away from direct dependence on large enterprises and the petrochemical complex as a whole.

"Constantly depending on their condition is not entirely correct," he believes.

Governor. In turn, Chairman of the House of Representatives Vladimir Andreichenko emphasized that the Vitebsk region has a good industrial base and structure. However, many enterprises are not fully utilized and need raw materials. "Increasing volumes and reducing costs is the most important task," he is confident.

At the enterprise, the President was also informed about the development of the oil refinery. Then he familiarized himself with modern production management methods by visiting several facilities at the enterprise.
