President of Belarus: Miory Metal Rolling Plant is now a state-owned enterprise

President of Belarus called the Miory Metal Rolling Plant a wonderful production facility where one can and should work. Alexander Lukashenko stated this while communicating with the enterprise's labor collective.

– You must give birth to future heroes of Belarus. A wonderful production facility, you need to work... Next year, you should have no problems. This is the most important promise that your leader gave me. We have invested a lot of money in you. We had to buy out your debts, – the Head of State emphasized.

At the same time, Alexander Lukashenko added, one can earn good money at this enterprise:

– We will not let any of you be offended. Therefore, you can work calmly. The plant will work exactly as we once envisioned.

The discussion about creating a production facility in the Miory district, the Head of State recalled, began ten years ago. The initiative was supported in 2014 – a corresponding decree was signed.

– You brought me here, promised to create a paradise corner here. I thought: Miory is not exactly a "backwoods," but it's not Minsk, and not even Vitebsk. If we build a plant here, and then a cardiology center, and then a whole village for specialists... Why not help and support? I helped and supported. But those who promised missed the deadlines.

The task was to build the enterprise by 2020.

– Naturally, the ramp-up to the production capacity of this plant was also missed – we were supposed to produce 150 thousand tons of such beauty per year. Moreover, shaltai-talked, they put it on a simple basis, people started to be fired... How so? Then I began to fundamentally deal with the State Control Committee and another issue: why was production stopped and people started to be fired? According to my data, 82 people were fired. And after several "injections" in Minsk, the plant managers finally got it working. In April 2022, Alexander Lukashenko noted. Your head from today is a fully-fledged director. No bankruptcies, no production – there's all sorts of nonsense they've made up. From today, you are working as a Belarusian, state-owned enterprise. Due to the fact that private individuals did not fulfill their obligations, the plant was seized.

In addition, Alexander Lukashenko noted that all the debts accumulated by the enterprise were taken over by the state. And he emphasized once again:

– You are functioning today as a Belarusian plant in Miory. You have a general director from this moment on. Legally, this will be formalized within two days. No bankruptcy, no red tape. You are not bankrupts.

The President also said that he was informed about the lack of rhythm and timeliness in the supply of raw materials, and there are issues with the sale of finished products.

In addition, the Head of State outlined claims against previous managers for embezzlement of financial funds. The main question that worries Alexander Lukashenko is how much money was stolen during the construction. Earlier it was reported that the investor invested about 400 million euros in the enterprise. The President noted:

– This plant cannot cost that much. We can see this at first glance. Therefore, those who promised to build this plant, took loans from banks, ordered, brought equipment, built the plant. It's expensive. Where is the money? This is the main question to those who are currently under investigation.in a detention center. And until they tell me how much money was stolen (we will answer this question ourselves, an audit is underway, we are calculating how much the plant actually cost), and most importantly, until they tell me where they will get the money to compensate the state for this money, you, they will sit there. If they haven't understood that in Belarus sooner or later you will be asked: where did you steal and how much did you steal. That's my main complaint.

The President summed up:

– If someone thinks that my goal is to keep him in confinement, that's complete stupidity. Give the money back! You will have to return the money. The plant cost four hundred million euros, and it might cost 200-300. So it's one thing to produce goods, sell them and repay these loans... It's one thing – 400 million, and another – 250! Is there a difference? And in general, it is unacceptable to steal! Unacceptable! That's all! Resolve all issues. Money – to the cashier, and come tomorrow. If your petition will be– I will consider it within a week. You gave me this right by adopting the country's Constitution.

Speaking about ensuring the stable operation of the enterprise, Alexander Lukashenko promised to award the title of Hero of Belarus for restoring the operation of the Miory Metal Rolling Plant:

– The most important outcome of my visit today: we have already agreed on two Heroes of Belarus, whowho will fulfill the task assigned to them and receive the Hero Stars. I am not naming names yet. When they fulfill what they promised, I will fulfill my promise.

Addressing the factory workers, Alexander Lukashenko summarized:

– You are the entire Miory region. If you work, your factory will pull the entire region up.
