The President of Belarus demanded to ensure the maximum quality of grain harvesting

August 20, Tolochin District /Lyudmila Sats - BELTA/. Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko demanded to ensure the maximum quality of grain harvesting during his working trip to the Vitebsk region today, a BELTA correspondent reports. While inspecting a grain field in the Tolochin District, the head of state noted: "Everyone must be focused on quality. There is no need to rush the harvesting today. Even if there are problems, one should not rush, the main thing is quality." "It would be good to thresh another 1.5 million tons of grain," the President added. Currently, about 7.5 million tons of grain have been threshed in Belarus. The head of state demanded to ensure the threshing of 9 million tons. "We can do it," he is convinced. According to Aleksandr Lukashenko, the volume of harvested grain could have been larger if not for the drought at the beginning of summer and the downpours in the middle. At the same time, the President emphasized that grain in the fields should not stand idle. This applies, to a greater extent, to the northern regions of the country. The head of state also drew attention to the need for high-quality harvesting of corn for grain and seeds. Touching upon the specifics of farming in the Vitebsk region, the President demanded that the governor determine the optimal structure of sown areas by crops. In particular, in the northern region, it is possible to grow more grains that have a shorter vegetation period. Aleksandr Lukashenko also considers it necessary to optimize certain areas of animal husbandry in the region, in particular, to breed more cattle, as there are sufficient agricultural lands and pastures for this, and less pigs and poultry. -0-
