The President of Belarus heard a report from the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee on the progress of the harvest in the region
The progress of the harvesting campaign in the country remains under the constant attention of the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko. Relevant managers, as well as chairmen of regional executive committees, inform the head of state about the situation on a daily basis without interrupting their work in the fields. On August 13, Alexander Lukashenko heard a detailed report from the Governor of the Vitebsk region, Nikolai Sherstnev, on the progress of the harvest in the region.
As of today, 60% of the areas have been harvested in the region, with over 650 thousand tons of grain already in the granaries. So far, the weather is hindering farmers from increasing this figure at the proper pace. In particular, field work in the region has actually stopped today due to rains. At the same time, as Nikolai Sherstnev reported, farmers are not losing optimism – as soon as weather conditions permit, they will get down to business with maximum dedication and efficiency. The President was also interested in the progress of flax harvesting in the Vitebsk region. Currently, almost 75% of the flax area, which amounts to 10 thousand hectares, has been pulled out in the region.
