PRESIDENT revealed details of the sudden practice of issues related to the use of non-strategic nuclear weapons
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, at a solemn assembly on the occasion of Victory Day, revealed details of a snap inspection of means – carriers of non-strategic nuclear weapons.
The Head of State noted that against the backdrop of constantly increasing military activity in Europe, Belarus is taking a comprehensive set of measures to adequately respond to the escalation of the situation. "This defense activity of our country is planned and involves several stages," he said.
During the first stage, in response to the concentration of troops near the northwestern borders of Belarus (and this is already about 90 thousand people), reinforced tank and mechanized battalions were deployed in the Oshmyany and Postavy directions. Issues of preventing the infiltration of sabotage and reconnaissance groups and illegal armed formations into Belarusian territory and combating them, as well as maintaining order in the border territories as a whole, have been worked out.
Also against this background, a snap inspection was carried out with the mobilization and bringing to full combat readiness of mechanized and anti-aircraft missile brigades. "And the last one is a large-scale inspection of the air force," said Alexander Lukashenko.
According to him, these inspections have shown the effectiveness of the existing system of combat and mobilization readiness, the ability of brigades to timely transition to a higher degree of combat readiness and fulfill their assigned tasks.
Currently, rotation of covering forces in the Northwestern direction is underway. Military units of a separate mechanized brigade are occupying new operational areas. They are being replaced by a reinforced battalion tactical group from another separate mechanized brigade.
"Today we are beginning to work out the second stage of response measures. For its implementation, the General Staffs of the Armed Forces of Belarus and Russia have planned an inspection of the forces and means of the joint regional group of troops, within the framework of which it is planned for the first time to work out issues of the use of non-strategic nuclear weapons," the President stated. - During the inspection, special ammunition will be supplied
