A man lost part of his leg in a gas cylinder explosion in a garage

February 7, Vitebsk / Sergey Kochetov - BELTA /. A resident of Postavy district sustained a severe injury as a result of a gas cylinder explosion that occurred during a fire in his own garage. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by Marina Fando, press secretary of the Vitebsk Regional Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. The fire broke out in the village of Leonovichi on the afternoon of February 6 in a former residential building adapted by a local resident as a garage. The owner of the garage, born in 1968, tried to extinguish the fire, but was injured as a result of the explosion of a gas cylinder located in the garage. As a result, the man was hospitalized with a diagnosis of "traumatic amputation of one-third of the left lower limb." The report of the incident was received from the victim's wife. She was in the residential building, which is located ten meters from the garage. The presumed cause of the fire is considered to be a violation of the rules for the operation of electrical networks and electrical equipment (short circuit of electrical wiring in the car). As a result, a Volkswagen Passat car was destroyed, the roof of the garage burned down, and the walls and property were damaged. -0-
