Border regions of Belarus and Russia effectively address citizens' security issues - A. Kosinets
September 29, Vitebsk / Sergei Kotovets - BELTA /. Border regions of Belarus and Russia have established an effective interaction system to ensure the safety of citizens. This was stated by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Kosinets, today during a working meeting with members of the Security, Defense and Crime Control Commission of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia and representatives of the legislative authorities of the Pskov and Smolensk regions, a BELTA correspondent reports.
According to him, the established partnership relations between the Vitebsk region and the Pskov and Smolensk regions allow for effective resolution of cooperation issues in all areas of socio-economic development of the regions, including the fight against crime. Interaction between law enforcement agencies has been established, which makes it possible to ensure peace and order in the border areas, and create conditions for limiting any illegal manifestations. This is especially true for such socially dangerous acts as drug trafficking and illegal arms trafficking. Regular exchange of experience and joint events by Belarusian and Russian law enforcement agencies allow for effective control of the situation in the border areas and ultimately ensure the safety of citizens. In addition, the deputy corps acts as a reliable partner of the executive branch in resolving these issues, Alexander Kosinets believes.
A stable socio-political situation is maintained in the Vitebsk region, which allows people to live and work peacefully for the benefit of their native land, the chairman of the regional executive committee is confident. In matters of combating crime, the regional coordination meeting, headed by the regional prosecutor, works effectively. The measures taken have made it possible, in particular, to reduce the level and achieve an almost 100% detection rate of serious and particularly serious crimes, as well as to increase this indicator for a number of other criminal offenses. This indicates the preventive work carried out by law enforcement agencies, including educational work among youth and in work collectives. Public organizations take an active part in this work. Also, a calm ethno-confessional situation is developing in the region.
"Our main task is to ensure a high quality of life and safety for our citizens, and the development of interaction between the border regions of Belarus and Russia will contribute to increasing the effectiveness of solving these problems," Alexander Kosinets added.
The working meeting with the chairman of the regional executive committee preceded a joint meeting of the Security, Defense and Crime Control Commission of the Parliamentary Assembly and representatives of the Regional Council of Deputies, the legislative authorities of the Pskov and Smolensk regions, which will be held on September 30. The meeting will address issues of ensuring the security of the border regions of Belarus and Russia, the interaction of the authorities of the states participating in the Treaty on the Creation of the Union State in ensuring public safety and improving the regulatory framework for strengthening legality and law and order. Deputies also plan to consider the progress of the implementation of the Union State programs in the field of security and crime control, and to visit work collectives and military units. -0-
