Natural gas has been supplied to the settlements of Oktyabrsky and Olshanka in the Chashniksky district

Ceremonial launch of natural gas took place in the settlement of Oktyabrsky, Chashniksky district, Vitebsk region.

The ceremony of lighting the symbolic torch was attended by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Nikolai Sherstnev, General Director of UP "Vitebskoblgaz" Petr Shershen, Chairman of the Chashniksky District Executive Committee Leonid Pleshko. "This year, the region has completed the planned gasification work in settlements. Natural gas has been supplied to a dozen settlements. The settlement of Oktyabrsky became the final point of 2017. A little earlier, the agro-town of Olshanka was gasified. Now we are developing plans for the region for the coming year. We are determining funding sources. We can confidently say that no fewer settlements and agro-towns will be gasified in the region than in 2017. We will have a fully developed gasification program for 2018 by the end of December," said Nikolai Sherstnev, talking to journalists after the solemn ceremony.

He emphasized that the region is carrying out systematic work on the gasification of rural settlements, which will be developed in the future. "We have identified such settlements, we know their development prospects. Production should develop in these settlements, young people should stay here. Our task is to create comfortable living conditions for people," added the head of the region. The First Deputy General Director of UP "Vitebskoblgaz" Alexander Ozerec noted that the gasification of rural areas is one of the tasks of the State Program "Comfortable Housing and Favorable Environment".

"In accordance with the state program, we are developing gas networks in the Vitebsk region. We plan to fully implement the plans up to 2020. And this means that the comfort of life in our rural settlements will increase," he said.

12 km of gas networks were built for the gasification of Olshanka and Oktyabrsky. In Oktyabrsky, several residential apartment buildings (more than 100 apartments) have been converted to natural gas. Owners of private households also got the opportunity to connect to the gas pipeline. In

in the agro-town of Olshanka, a corresponding consumer cooperative has already been established, which includes about 10 households. In total, more than 200 private houses can be supplied with gas from the constructed pipeline.

Residents of the Oktyabrsky settlement told journalists that they had been waiting for gasification for a long time. After switching their kitchen stoves to natural gas, they have already managed to appreciate its advantages (they previously used liquefied gas) - noticeable savings (up to 30%), no soot, and an even flame. And the gas workers added greater safety to this. In the Vitebsk region, all cities and urban settlements are supplied with gas, and natural gas has been supplied to 46% of agro-towns.
