A school-based military-sports camp will operate in Vitebsk for the first time this summer

One of Vitebsk's round-the-clock school camps will be transformed into a military-sports tent city this year, as reported by the administration of the Oktyabrsky District of Vitebsk.

"The practice of a 9-day camp with round-the-clock stay at a school has been in place for several years. But before, it was just a sports camp. This year, for the first time, in cooperation with military unit 52287, we are organizing the military-sports camp "Spartakovets" at Vitebsk Secondary School No. 44. Children will spend most of their time in the tent city (in good weather), as well as in classes, training sessions, and events at the military unit and the "Vitebsk" football club," explained Elena Zalesskaya, a methodologist at the educational and methodological office of the Department of Education, Sports, and Tourism of the district administration.

The grand opening of the first shift will take place today: the program includes demonstration performances by military personnel and a concert by ensembles from the city's Center for Children and Youth Creativity. There will be two shifts in total, with 50 people in each. Moreover, the majority of the children are from socially vulnerable categories, disadvantaged families, or are in socially dangerous situations. "The practice of previous years shows that they do not have conflicts with children from ordinary families. And in general, at the end of the shift, children want to extend it, 9 days suddenly seems too short. This is because the program is very intensive, and this year it will be even more interesting: more football, exciting performances, and master classes in street workout by athletes from the "Optimist" society, who will demonstrate a healthy lifestyle. And simply the atmosphere of a tent camp - all this is very appealing to children," added Elena Zalesskaya.
