Dear veterans, agricultural workers of the Pridvinsky region!
As per the good Belarusian tradition, this year Horadok district is hosting guests and participants of the festival of agricultural workers of the Vitebsk region "Dazhynki -2014".It is not for nothing that people say: bread is the head of everything. The land feeds us. The more labor, material resources, and love we invest in the land, the greater the return.
Today, over 57 thousand people are employed in the agricultural sector of the economy in the Vitebsk region. Your difficult work, thanks to which food security is ensured, deserves high praise and the most sincere words of gratitude. A good harvest of grain crops, flax, potatoes, vegetables, and corn has been grown. Agricultural producers of the Pridvinsky region harvested 1 million 302 thousand tons of grain, including from farms and personal subsidiary plots, almost all in barn weight, which is the best result in the history of the region. The Vitebsk region was the first in the republic to fulfill the state order: 140 thousand tons of grain were delivered to the granaries of the Motherland. We have managed to improve the quality of agricultural products produced. This allows us to look to the future with optimism and begin implementing new large-scale projects.
The unconditional priorities for the coming years are increasing exports, improving the profitability of agricultural production and sales by increasing labor productivity and comprehensive modernization of the industry. The most important task is to improve people's well-being, improve their working conditions, and spiritual development.
Thanks to the combined efforts of villagers, townspeople, youth, and veterans, seasonal work in the fields and farms is carried out promptly and effectively. Workers from industrial enterprises and city institutions assist in the harvest to address food security challenges. I wish to express sincere words of gratitude to the rural workers, townspeople, university students, schoolchildren, heads of organizations, land reclamation specialists, and forestry workers.
"Dazhynki" is an important social project that instills a love for the land, contributes to maintaining order, and improving the well-being of settlements.
Respect for the labor of grain growers is the foundation upon which the Belarusian people, our culture, and spirituality exist. Gorodok district has been transformed and prepared for the agro-industrial complex of the villagers. The central square, bus station, and railway station have been reconstructed in the district center. Significant work has been carried out in the housing and communal services sector, 29 streets and 21 courtyards have been improved, the road surface in the central part of the city has been reconstructed, utility networks, power lines, and street lighting have been replaced. New cafes, shops, and a market have been put into operation. Roofs have been repaired and building facades have been reconstructed, interior work has been carried out at five healthcare facilities and seven educational facilities. Capital repairs of the building of the city Palace of Culture, the Children's Art School, and the district museum of local lore have been completed, the former "Rodina" cinema building has been reconstructed into a multifunctional center with a 3D cinema hall, a library, an exhibition hall, and a cafe, the memorial complex "Immortality", and the building of the district department for emergency situations have been reconstructed. The hotel of the Vitebsk Regional Center for Winter Sports Olympic Reserve has been commissioned, a ski-roller track has been built in the "Vorobyovy Gory" tract, the sports hall has been reconstructed, and a swimming pool is under construction. In the agro-town of Bychiha, the construction of the "House of Mercy" Center for the Accommodation of Disabled and Elderly Citizens is underway.Positive transformations have affected rural settlements and territories of the district. Melioration work has been carried out, and an additional 15 thousand hectares of arable land have been put into circulation. The towns of Yazerishcha and the agro-town of Bychiha have been supplied with gas, and a livestock complex has been built in the agro-town of Virovlja. In total, construction, reconstruction, and repair work have been carried out at 167 facilities.We express our gratitude to the builders for their coordinated and effective work. The updated Gorodok, filled with light and joy, warmly welcomes guests.
