This was announced today during a direct telephone line with residents of the region by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Kosinets, BELTA correspondent reports. Every Saturday or Sunday, citizens will be able to contact deputy chairmen of the regional executive committee and heads of district executive committees. "We are holding direct lines not for populism, but for the prompt resolution of pressing problems of citizens, as the main task of the upcoming five-year period will be a significant improvement in people's quality of life," emphasized Alexander Kosinets. Instead of the planned three hours, the direct line worked for four hours. 50 calls were received. The governor noted that all callers expressed a benevolent and trusting attitude towards the authorities, and people's problems in most cases arose due to the carelessness of employees. All issues raised by citizens have been taken under control. And within five days, people's problems will be solved, Alexander Kosinets promised. The most complaints are about the timing and quality of capital repairs of the housing stock. In this regard, the governor instructed the housing and communal services department of the regional executive committee to control the progress of repair work, and to force unscrupulous contractors to redo the defects at their own expense. "Colossal funds are allocated for capital repairs, but there is no quality control of work either from the housing and utility departments or from the State Construction Supervision," believes Alexander Kosinets. On his instructions, in the Vitebsk region, acceptance certificates for houses after capital repairs will now also be signed by residents. -0-
