Проблема распространения борщевика Сосновского в Витебской области требует срочного решения

The problem of Sosnowsky's hogweed spread in the Vitebsk region requires an urgent solution. This opinion was expressed today by Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Galina Volchuga at a meeting of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee while discussing the issue of improving order at agricultural facilities and complying with environmental legislation requirements, as reported by a BELTA correspondent. BELTA.

"The situation with the spread of Sosnowsky's hogweed in the Vitebsk region is one of the most critical among all regions of the country. And this problem needs to be solved urgently," emphasized Galina Volchuga. She also noted that currently, this plant grows in the region on an area of 700 hectares. The largest foci are concentrated in Ushachi (210 ha), Gorodok (72 ha), and Vitebsk (68 ha) districts.

Addressing this issue, Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Alexander Kosinets noted that significant funds are spent annually in the region to destroy this dangerous culture. Meanwhile, a substantial effect has not been achieved. In his opinion, the most effective way to combat hogweed is the mechanical method. "This is exactly how this problem should be solved," added Alexander Kosinets, emphasizing that all efforts will be made in the Vitebsk region this year to destroy hogweed.
