Scientists from Vitebsk State University are researching the problems of forming legal culture among youth
May 5, Vitebsk / Sergey Kochetov - BELTA /. Scientists of the Law Department of Vitebsk State University named after P. Masherov are studying the problems of forming legal culture among youth at the present stage, the dean of the department, Alexander Bochkov, told a BELTA correspondent.
The research work is carried out at the request of the Internal Affairs Department of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee and involves the development of scientific and methodological recommendations and measures aimed at improving the quality of legal personnel training, legal education, and increasing the legal culture, primarily among youth.
The construction of a state of law is impossible without the simultaneous formation of legal knowledge, beliefs, and skills of lawful behavior among the population, Alexander Bochkov noted. In the new socio-economic, political, spiritual, and legal conditions of the country's development, the importance of forming legal culture inevitably increases. At the same time, studying the state of legal culture among youth will help identify problems, advantages, and disadvantages of legislation and education in the sphere of forming legal culture.
During the research work, it is planned to assess the state of legal culture in the country, identify sources of legal information, and analyze the extent to which youth are informed about their rights and guarantees of their protection, as well as the system of knowledge, attitudes, and values in the field of law that determine the level of legal awareness of youth. In addition, it is planned to assess the attitude of students towards the existing legal system and identify factors that promote and hinder the realization of the rights and freedoms of youth. Other tasks aimed at optimizing the process of forming legal culture among youth will be solved during the research, Alexander Bochkov added. -0-
