A seller from Orsha gave away goods worth 107 million rubles for free

Продавец из Орши раздала бесплатно товары на 107 миллионов рублей

Over six months, the seller of a rural store in the Orsha district gave away products and other goods worth 107 million rubles to all willing villagers on credit.

Despite having two minor children and a father with a first-group disability under her care, the court passed a strict sentence. The seller was sentenced to two years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.

Details of the case are provided by Diana Rybakova, Assistant Prosecutor of the Orsha District:

– It turned out that the seller gave away goods left and right without any guarantees. Her notebook entries helped identify 19 customers who owed a total of about 29 million rubles. Where the remaining material assets went is unclear.

To conceal the shortage, the employee submitted deliberately false information in her reports. She is charged under two articles of the Criminal Code. If the accused had found a way to compensate for the damage before the trial, the sentence might have been more lenient.

According to the state prosecutor, the defendant was unable to repay the debts because she voluntarily fell into a debt trap not only within the retail network. Specifically, she has loans from various banks, some of which are already overdue.

Interestingly, the customers identified by the investigation, who took goods on credit from the trusting seller, are in no hurry to return the money.
