The project of the International Chagall Center in Vitebsk will be discussed by participants of the XIX Chagall Readings
June 14, Vitebsk / BELTA correspondent /. The XIX International Chagall Readings will become a venue for public discussion of the reconstruction project for the historical part of Vitebsk associated with the name of Marc Chagall, Lyudmila Khmelnitskaya, Director of the Marc Chagall Museum, told a BELTA correspondent.
The pre-project version of the international Chagall Center in Vitebsk was created by a group of architects led by Honored Architect of Belarus, Lenin Prize laureate Leonid Levin. The project has already been demonstrated at investment forums in Vitebsk and Minsk and, according to Lyudmila Khmelnitskaya, has generated great interest among potential investors.
"The project involves the reconstruction of almost a quarter of the historical part of Vitebsk and is of great importance for the development of the city's tourism potential; its implementation is important and requires the participation of all stakeholders," the museum director emphasized. The authors will present the project to the public, and Vitebsk architects, artists, monument protection specialists, museum workers, and historians are invited to discuss it.
As expected by the organizers of the Chagall Readings, the administration of the city of Narva (Estonia) and a tourism development consulting company from Tallinn will present another project of interest from the perspective of developing international tourism ties. According to Lyudmila Khmelnitskaya, along with the presentation of materials about the stay of the famous Vitebsk native in Narva, the consulting company has prepared proposals for mutual cooperation.
Despite the fact that the XIX Chagall Readings will pay great attention to tourism development, the organizers will continue the tradition of familiarizing the public with new materials about the life and work of Marc Chagall. The Readings opened with an exhibition of theatrical sketches and graphics by Moscow artist Boris Bomstein. A kind of continuation of the Readings will be Marc Chagall's birthday on July 7. On this day, on Pokrovskaya Street, where the artist's house and his museum are located, literary and musical meetings "Visiting Marc and Bella" will be held. -0-
