A draft decree on awarding five settlements with a pennant for courage and resilience during the Great Patriotic War has been prepared in Belarus
April 7, Minsk /Elena Prus - BELTA/. The Ministry of Defense of Belarus has prepared a draft decree on awarding five settlements with the pennant "For Courage and Resilience during the Great Patriotic War". This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Potupchik today at the fourth meeting of the Republican Organizing Committee for the preparation and celebration of the 65th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War, BELTA correspondent reports.
These settlements include the cities of Lepel, Pinsk, Rogachev, and the urban-type settlements of Surazh and Rossony.
Vladimir Potupchik emphasized that work is constantly being carried out in Belarus to perpetuate the memory of the fallen. All known military burials have been registered by the state. By decision of local authorities, enterprises, educational institutions, and military units have been assigned to military burials for care and improvement. Based on the results of the republican subbotnik (voluntary work day), part of the funds earned will be used for the repair and restoration of monuments, memorial complexes, and mass graves.
"One of the main directions of our activity should be the patriotic education of the younger generation," Vladimir Potupchik noted. "Active work in this direction is needed from youth public organizations and educational institutions."
"Today, it is extremely important for us to preserve in the memory of present and future generations the exploits of the war veterans and the high price of Victory that they paid for the freedom not only of our country but also of other countries of the world," the Deputy Prime Minister said. -0-
