A preventive campaign to protect children from emergencies will start in the Vitebsk region

Профилактическая акция по защите детей от чрезвычайных ситуаций стартует в Витебской области

A preventive campaign dedicated to the World Civil Defense Day starts today in the Vitebsk region, the Vitebsk regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations informed a BELTA correspondent.

From March 1 to 5, "Safety Day. Attention Everyone!" will be held in general education institutions - schools, gymnasiums, and lyceums. Its main task is to foster a culture of life safety and conduct educational and upbringing work with children on protection from natural and man-made emergencies.

Meetings with employees of emergency response bodies and units, thematic discussions and lectures on ensuring safe living, sports competitions, quizzes, and contests are planned. In addition, practical training sessions on actions in natural and man-made emergencies with the participation of Ministry of Emergency Situations staff will be held.

As noted by the department, modern civil defense of the Republic of Belarus is an integral part of the country's national security and defense system. It not only fulfills tasks in any scenario of military operations and large-scale terrorist acts, including in conditions of massive use of modern and advanced weapons by the enemy, but also participates in the protection of the population and territories in natural and man-made emergencies. World Civil Defense Day in Belarus is traditionally dedicated to protecting children from emergencies.

In 1935, the French parliament proposed that all states create zones on their territories that would remain free from conflict during hostilities. Every year on March 1, the world community celebrates World Civil Defense Day.
