Trade union organizations of the Vitebsk region will provide assistance to all lonely veterans of the region

February 9, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. Trade union organizations of the Vitebsk region, on the eve of the 65th anniversary of Victory, will take patronage over all lonely veterans, participants and disabled persons of the Great Patriotic War. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by Vladimir Fursov, Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Association of Trade Unions. Currently, lists of such people are being clarified, after which industry trade union organizations will be assigned to each of the veterans to provide assistance. "Our support will be diverse. This includes carrying out minor repairs, assisting with the cultivation of household plots, housekeeping, and resolving some organizational issues, which are sometimes also difficult for elderly people," the interlocutor noted. The implementation of the event is carried out within the framework of the republican campaign "Trade Unions - to Veterans," which started in February and will subsequently be held indefinitely. Its second important direction will be the improvement of memorial sites: military burials, obelisks, monuments, etc. In each region of the oblast, several such objects will be identified and assigned to trade unions. The regional association has already collected about Br6 million for their improvement. The work is planned to be carried out in the spring together with BRSM activists. In addition, within the framework of "Trade Unions - to Veterans," it is planned to hold cultural, entertainment, educational, and sports events, at which veterans will be both participants and honored guests, Vladimir Fursov added. -0-
