Trade Union May Day in Vitebsk

Festive events dedicated to Labour Day were held throughout the Vitebsk region. The largest of them took place in Vitebsk on Victory Square, where trade union activists gathered for the first time.

The celebration began with a welcome address by Ivan Vozmitel, Chairman of the regional trade union association, followed by an honoring of the laureates of professional skills competitions held last year. Each winner received the title "Master of the Year of Vitebsk Region-2016". Diplomas and flowers were presented to the 10 best representatives of trade union organizations, and their portraits will be displayed on the Honour Board of the regional association. Also among today's awardees were the chairpersons of primary trade union organizations who won the regional competitions for the best primary organization and the organization of public control over labour protection for 2016.

Words of gratitude were expressed on this day to the representatives of labour dynasties from enterprises and organizations in the healthcare and energy sectors. The event concluded with a concert by the city's artistic groups, featuring finalists of the Belarusian Trade Union Federation's "New Names of Belarus" competition.

Despite the inclement weather, the spring May Day mood was conveyed to everyone present on the square. Flowers, balloons, slogans, and a great mood – all this could be called "Trade Union May Day!"
