Labor productivity at enterprises in the Vitebsk region increased 1.5 times in January-April

The growth rate of labor productivity at enterprises of the Vitebsk region in January-April of the current year amounted to 150%, the chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Alexander Kosinets informed journalists today, BELTA correspondent reports. The growth rate of gross regional product for the first four months amounted to 110%, exports of goods exceeded the same indicator for January-April 2010 by 35%. Despite the fact that the foreign trade balance in the first quarter of the current year was negative due to the import of fertilizers, in January-April the region reached a positive indicator of $2 million. At the same time, the chairman of the regional executive committee stated that the industrial complex remains a problem for the region. For a significant part of the enterprises, the depreciation of fixed assets exceeds 90%, and for some, such as the Vitebsk Fur Factory, it is 100%. Modernization of the industrial complex, according to preliminary data, will require Br7 trillion. In the next five-year period, the region will implement 19 innovative programs in the main areas of socio-economic development, in accordance with which new production facilities for high-tech products with high added value will be created. This will allow by 2015 to ensure a twofold increase in gross regional product compared to the 2010 level, increase exports of goods and services by 2.6 times and achieve a positive foreign trade balance in 2015 in the amount of $250 million. -0-
