The production of footwear at "Marko" is planned to increase 1.5 times, and at "Belvest" - 3 times

Production of footwear at SOOO "Marko" and SOOO "Belvest" is planned to be increased to 12 million pairs per year. This issue was discussed today at a meeting in the government on the development of the light industry, which was chaired by Prime Minister Mikhail Myasnikovich, reports a BELTA correspondent.

In particular, it is planned to create a holding company based on SOOO "Marko", where within five years it is necessary to increase footwear production from 4 million to 6 million pairs per year, or 1.5 times, and to create a new leather and fur production. At SOOO "Belvest", it is planned to increase footwear production by 3 times - from 2 million to 6 million pairs per year over six years.

During the review of the business plans for these investment projects, it was noted that their implementation is possible only with state support. For this purpose, draft relevant regulatory legal acts have been developed.

Mikhail Myasnikovich, taking into account the upcoming implementation of the projects, instructed to thoroughly work out the issues of raw material supply for domestic footwear manufacturers, to pay attention to improving the quality and range of products manufactured by them, and to improve marketing activities.

The meeting also considered the situation at OJSC "Classic of Fashion Industry" ("KIM") and measures to stabilize the operation of this enterprise.

"KIM" is one of the enterprises in the knitwear industry of Belarus, specializing in the production of knitwear and hosiery. In recent years, the enterprise has been in a difficult financial situation. Ways out of the current situation were discussed. Mikhail Myasnikovich instructed the Ministry of Economy, together with the concern "Bellesprom", to prepare business proposals for the further development of OJSC "KIM", including the possibility of attracting a strategic investor to the enterprise and expanding its cooperation with other organizations in the industry.
