The production of fuel pellets will be opened in the building of the former school in the village of Komary, Vitebsk district

An unused school building in the village of Komary, Vitebsk district, was sold for almost 45 thousand rubles at an auction organized by the Vitebsk Obliymushchestvo fund.

The lot offered for sale included a two-story brick building built in 1969 (with a total area of 1.8 thousand square meters) with utilities and developed infrastructure, located five kilometers from the regional center, as well as the right to lease a 0.9-hectare land plot for 20 years. The property was put up for a repeated open auction with a reduction of the initial sale price by 80 percent, which amounted to 42.8 thousand rubles. The auction was declared invalid, as only one participant showed interest in the state-owned property, agreeing to purchase the lot at the initial price increased by 5 percent.

A representative of the domestic investor reported that plans for 2017 include the creation of a pellet production facility (fuel pellets) on the basis of the former school, which will create about 20 jobs.

There is a whole list of unused facilities of the education system in the Vitebsk region offered for involvement in economic circulation. In 2016, 95 former schools and kindergartens were closed and are not used in the region. According to the education department of the regional executive committee, an additional 35 schools are planned to be closed in 2017. Currently, 14 schools (kindergartens) are put up for auction. 15 have been sold since the beginning of the year.
