The Vitebsk Regional Prosecutor's Office notes the low role of public associations in detecting corruption

March 10, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. The role of public associations in detecting corruption offenses is extremely low. This opinion was expressed today at a round table meeting on combating corruption by the Prosecutor of the Vitebsk region, Gennady Dysko, a BELTA correspondent reports. Only isolated cases occur when a corruption offense is detected with the help of representatives of BRSM organizations, trade unions, or other associations. Meanwhile, the potential of public associations is much broader and it needs to be utilized more actively, the regional prosecutor emphasized. To counter the spread of corruption, law enforcement officers hold meetings with work collectives, speak at educational institutions, and appear in the press. To completely eradicate this phenomenon, it is necessary to form a stable sense of intolerance to corruption among the population. Active support of public associations can be an effective help in this, Gennady Dysko is confident. The same opinion was expressed by the Deputy Head of the KGB Directorate for the Vitebsk Region, Igor Shvaiba. "We are always open to cooperation," he stressed. The development of a unified plan or methodology for working with the population will help achieve this goal, Igor Shvaiba believes. The event was attended by heads of law enforcement agencies and courts of the region, departments of education, trade and services, ideological work and healthcare of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, public organizations, and mass media. -0-
