"A spark flew, and God united them." A diamond wedding was celebrated in Vitebsk

"Проскочила искра, а Бог соединил". В Витебске отметили бриллиантовую свадьбу

A ceremonial symbolic wedding ceremony took place on July 20 at the cultural and historical complex "Golden Ring of Vitebsk "Dvina". A married couple from the regional center celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary.

Eduard and Tamara Yanushkovsky registered their sixty years of married life. Both are former underage prisoners. Eduard Antonovich is an Honored Coach of the BSSR in boxing, one of the mentors of Olympic champion Vyacheslav Yanovsky, former WBO world champion Sergey Lyakhovich, and other members of the national team.

On their festive day, the couple shared the secret of a strong family.

"You need to love and respect each other, and forgive mistakes. That's how my wife and I have been together for 60 years. We have two children, two grandsons and a granddaughter, a great-grandson and a great-granddaughter. Our daughter is a Master of Sports in swimming, and our son is a Candidate for Master of Sports in boxing," Eduard Yanushkovsky said.

His wife is also connected to sports: although she worked in education and trade, she was once the national champion in athletics. But it wasn't sports that brought them together, but dancing in Vitebsk's Frunze Park, where a very young Edik noticed the slender beauty Toma. "Sparks flew, and God brought us together," admitted Tamara Yanushkovskaya.

She advised young people who are about to get married not to try to re-educate each other, to be understanding, and not to be hasty.

"Mom and Dad have great love, and also a very big cup of patience," added the couple's daughter, Larisa Isachenko. "They know how to yield, take care of each other, and love to help people, which is why they have many friends."

The ceremony was a gift from their daughter to her parents for their 60th wedding anniversary. As the jubilarians admitted, this is the first time they have registered their relationship in such a festive atmosphere. "There was no wedding back then: we came and registered. We didn't even have 15 rubles to pay for the certificate. And no rings either. We were so eager that we didn't even ask our parents," shared Tamara Yanushkovskaya.

This time, the jubilarians exchanged diamond rings and received certificates of the ceremonial registration of their diamond wedding.

This is the second such registration in Vitebsk this year, the registry office of the city executive committee reported.
