Job fairs have resumed in Vitebsk

Job fairs in Vitebsk district administrations will be held monthly. This was announced today by Zinaida Koroleva, Deputy Chairperson of the Vitebsk City Executive Committee, at the first such event in the administration of the Oktyabrsky District.

The first job fair in the city in many years caused a great stir: by the beginning of the event, more than 350 people had gathered in the hall, and new applicants continued to arrive for an hour.

– I must admit, we did not expect such a number, but we are glad that people are interested. Employment today is one of the most pressing issues. In the age of computer technologies and communications, it would seem that finding a job remotely has become easier. But, as we can see, there is a need for a face-to-face meeting between an employer and a job seeker. Thus, people learned about retraining opportunities, heard directly from representatives of organizations about available offers, asked questions, and talked about themselves. And if the interest is mutual, they agreed on a full interview with all the legal subtleties of hiring. I think this shortens the path to employment. Therefore, in the near future, we will hold similar events in the administrations of the Pervomaysky and Zheleznodorozhny districts and then continue this practice on a regular basis – monthly or more often, – said Zinaida Koroleva.

She emphasized that the experience of the first job fair will be taken into account and the "rough edges" that arose in terms of citizen flow distribution will be corrected. The event was attended by representatives of the management and HR specialists from 11 enterprises of the district and the territorial department of education, sports and tourism. Among them were transport enterprises, footwear and garment manufacturers, "Vitebskoblgaz" and "Vitebskvodokanal", a branch of RUP "Belpochta", and others. Another 22 organizations delegated the right to represent them to the district administration. In total, they presented about 340 vacancies to the applicants.

– And in general, as of today, the city employment service offers about 780 vacancies, mainly for blue-collar jobs. Meanwhile, as of last night, there were

around 670. This indicates that employers have also become more active. And this process will continue as long as there is a need," noted Zinaida Koroleva.

In addition to communicating with potential employers, visitors to the job fair had the opportunity to learn from specialists of the city employment service about all job openings, retraining programs, other employment assistance options, as well as to communicate with the leadership of the district administration and the Deputy of the House of Representatives Alexander Tsetsoho.
