The instruction to monitor these departments was given today at a regular meeting of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee by its chairman, Alexander Kosinets, BELTA correspondent reports. The number of sales departments in enterprises is quite large, but the level of their professional training does not meet the requirements of the time. For example, 180 sales specialists work in the Vitebsk concern "Meat and Dairy Products" alone, and only a couple of them know foreign languages. The work of most marketers and sales specialists is limited to compiling statistical reports, Alexander Kosinets stated. The chairman of the regional executive committee considers the increase in warehouse stocks to be a consequence of the weak performance of marketing services. As of July 1, their total stock for the region's enterprises is estimated at Br675 billion. One-fifth of this amount is accounted for by "Vityaz" and the Orsha Flax Mill. The Obol Ceramic Plant has accumulated a six-month supply of bricks. At the same time, "Vityaz" continues to produce cathode-ray tube televisions, ignoring the market demand for plasma and liquid crystal screen devices capable of receiving digital signals. And the Obol Ceramic Plant, despite the large volumes of housing construction, does not cooperate with builders even in the region.
